Gables Riverside Retreat sits on a 900 acre working property along the pristine banks of the Murrumbidgee River. With four bedrooms, spacious interiors, cosy open fireplace & expansive entertaining areas, it’s perfect for families or groups seeking a peaceful retreat to relax.
Whether you’re relaxing on the veranda, nestled by the fireplace, taking a dip in the iconic Murrumbidgee or exploring the picturesque surroundings. It really is the perfect retreat to relax, unwind and reconnect.
The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need to cook up breakfast, lunch and dinners for your group. The 6 burner gas cooktop and electric oven are fantastic.
Included in the kitchen are Fridge/Freezer, Dishwasher, Kettle. Toaster, Microwave, Dinnerware, Glassware and Cutlery for 8ppl. Enough cookware to cook up a large feast for 8 people.
Basic Pantry: coffee, tea, sugar, oil, salt, pepper, vegemite, honey, jam and a few herbs, spices and condiments.
The open plan living area allows you to flow from the kitchen into the lounge room with a wood burning fireplace and rustic decor. Air-conditioning and heating also runs throughout. The dining area boasts beautiful timber windows which overlook the valley and river views that surround the property.
There are four bedrooms. Two bedrooms have queen beds and two bedrooms have split king single beds or a superking for doubles. Before checking in, please let us know the configuration you prefer.
There is one generously sized bathroom with a beautiful stone basin that sits on floating timber redbox benches.
We have installed heated flooring for those cold winter mornings. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and towels are provided
Outside, the veranda overlooks the picturesque Murrumbidgee. Fire up the BBQ and dine on the large veranda, enjoy a wine and cheese plate around the fire pit or throw a line in and see if you can catch some dinner.
On the side of the river you will hear the peaceful sound of nature, relax with a book or pack a picnic lunch. Dip your toes into the iconic Murrumbidgee River.
The Murrumbidgee is located right in front of the house, you are welcome to fish. The Murrumbidgee is known for its Murray Cod, Yellow Belly and Trout. Please bring your own fishing equipment. Bait can be purchased at the Worm Farm in Bookham for $15 a bucket.
The Murrumbidgee is the perfect spot to kayak. We have two kayaks available on request.
We are lucky enough to be the home of some beautiful and some endangered species of birds. Binoculars can be found in the TV entertainment unit. See what bird life you can find.
We are so fortunate to be home to some amazing and beautiful wildlife - kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, platypus and possums (Watch and enjoy but please do not approach, feed or touch)
The humble village of Bookham is the home to a strong grazing community. Bookham has two stunning churches built from local granite, one recently renovated into a beautiful Airbnb ‘The Old Bookham Church’. If you are after a delicious breakfast or lunch, we highly recommend stopping in at Barney’s Cafe on your way home. It will not disappoint.
Looking to be pampered by the best? Head over to Jugiong, a quick 40 minute drive down the Hume, and visit the lovely ladies at Parlour J. While you're there, make sure you check out the Long Track Pantry and The Sir George, the two spots that put Jugiong on the map.
If you're after some retail therapy, we recommend heading into Yass. There you'll find treasures such as Merchant Campbell and Mill & Hyde. In town you'll also find a golf course and swimming pool. Clementine is a fantastic bakery, and we recommend that any history buffs check out the Yass Historic Museum.
A vibrant village in the Yass Valley and heart of the Canberra District wine region. With rolling hills, lush vineyards, and country feel, Murrumbateman is the perfect destination for a delightful day trip.
Lake Burrinjuck attracts a quarter of a million tourists each year, not just for almost every water sport imaginable, but for some of the state’s best bushwalking, birdwatching and picnicking in 75 hectares of unspoilt natural playgrounds.
Wee Jasper is a natural wonderland ideal for exploring, camping, picnicking, bird-watching, and outdoor enjoyment. Fossil viewing around Lake as part of specialist tours with expert guides. Carey’s Cave offers one of Australia’s most memorable natural experiences while properly equipped adventurers can discover a myriad of other wild limestone cave systems.

Gables Riverside Retreat is situated off the Hume Highway. Approx. 3 ½ hours from Sydney, 1 ½ hours from Canberra, 6 hours from Melbourne, 40 mins from Yass, and about 20 mins from the village of Bookham.
Yes, we have a 2 night minimum stay.
Our rental includes a fully equipped kitchen, linen, towels, Wi-Fi, and cable TV.

Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 10am.
Due to animals on the farm and livestock in neighbouring paddocks unfortunately we cannot permit animals to stay.
